It’s outerwear week at Project Run and Play.
I wrote lots of details in my entry over at pr+p. I mostly just want to show you more pictures in this post! This photoshoot was really fun. We just went in a little patch of trees and I handed Kaitlyn a basket of apples. She is such a little actress and acted out little red riding hood for me. She is adorable! I think the way she played really shows the fun swing of the coat.
I focused on little details for this coat. It was really fun to make. I even dusted off my silkscreen and printed the lining.
I interfaced the body and sleeves to give it some structure for the “swing.” I also piped the collar (which is sewn down) and the sleeve cuffs.
Go vote here. Thanks! I’ll show you how to silkscreen next week. It’s so fun.

OMG!
This is the cutest coat I ever seen;)
So pretty, if I had a little girl, this would be the perfect coat for her!
Thank you for sharing.
Lovely greetings…

All the entries are darling, seriously!
Nevertheless, what is it with designing children’s coats/jackets that can’t be buttoned/zippered all the way? Absolutely cute look but doesn’t it defy the purpose of keeping your kid warm?
Just wondering aloud, here. :)
Jess@craftiness is not optional
this is hands down, gorgeous, Kate!! I love everything about it, the color (of course!) the ruffles, the lace…so, so cute!

I am completely IN LOVE with this jacket, from the color to the hood and lace to the ruffles. I would make this in a heartbeat if you created a tutorial for it (hint hint lol). Great job, I’m not currently a follower of your blog but I think I might be now!

The details in this coat are absolutely amazin–silkscreened lining, ruffles, piping, and the lace! Wowzers! Lovely, as usual!

Oh Kate . . . 50 bazillion points to you. This is incredible! So detailed and gorgeous and whimsical and fun . . . I love it! Can I get oe in my size? ;-)

I think my favorite part is the girly girlyess on the outside and then the tough screen printed arrows on the inside—that’s my feminist side coming out—but I love it.

Wow Kate I think u saved the best for last. This is amazing. Please tell me you have a tutorial for that front gathering. The colors r fantastic, I love the buttons, and I love the masculine meets feminine with the arrow lining and the lace touches. Gorgeous!

Are you for real? I have been following your blog for awhile and you always amaze me. This coat is adorable. Why aren’t you on the real project runway? Love your blog and everything you do. You are fun to read and watch. Can’t wait to see what you do next.

I agree with Ginger…why aren’t you on the real project runway? You seriously are amazing! Can you make this jacket in big girl form… hehe : ) Or at least make my daughter’s wardrobe?! lol

I have a thing for this mustardy yellow…and ruffles, of course. But I especially love the piping and the screenprinted arrows. Lovely!
